Two higly innovative instruments for the prevention of environmental pollution by pesticides can be utilized by EEC States : the recent EC directives concerning the classification of hazardous substances (directive 91/325/EEC) and the placing of plant protection products on the market (directive 91/414/EEC). These directives will promote protection measures aimed at improving the quality of water resources that may particularly affect by the contamination of pesticides.
