The invention is suitable for a mobile communication terminal, and provides a method for acquiring position information by the mobile communication terminal. The method comprises the steps of: a, sending a USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) location request to a mobile operator server by the mobile communication terminal, wherein the USSD location request carries a Cell-ID of a cell in which the mobile communication terminal is located; and b, receiving the feedback information of the mobile operator server by the mobile communication terminal, wherein the information carries the position information corresponding to the Cell-ID. Compared with the traditional GPS location mode, the technical scheme provided by the invention has simpler and more rapid realization, no need of complex operation and no need of extra support from software and hardware.
