The invention relates to a device (6) for machining a component (1) by means of a liquid jet (13) propagating the laser beam (8). The device (6) comprises a laser source (7), which is designed to emit a laser beam (8), a channel (12) having a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet (14) is constructed and arranged to (a liquid jet to lead 13) for a predetermined distance in the direction of a component to be worked (1), liquid feeding means which are fluidly connected (with the liquid inlet of the channel 12) and adapted to feed the channel (12) with in particular liquid under pressure, and a coupling device (10) which is designed to couple to the light emitted from the laser source (7) the laser beam (8) on the inlet side into the channel (12). The channel (12) is defined at least over part of its axial extension by a tube (11) with at least one curved portion (11c). Moreover, the invention relates to a method (6) for machining a component (1) by means of a propagating laser beam in a liquid jet (8).
