Rheumatic Fever: Clinical, Ecological and Familial Aspects.

The author of this treatise, Rheumatic Fever: Clinical Ecological and Familial Aspects, had been head of the medical department of St. Stephen's Hospital and St. Andrew's Hospital (Bow) in London from 1937 to 1945. Rheumatic fever and its complications were major and prominent diseases among the patients served by these hospitals. At the beginning of 1946, Dr. Davis received an appointment to the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem and to his surprise found rheumatic fever was a common and often disabling disease. This book reports his experience in the study of patients with rheumatic fever, rheumatic heart disease, and chorea both in a special rheumatic fever clinic and in the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. The special rheumatic clinic was established in 1947 and included patients of all ages. Included in this report are data obtained on familial rheumatic fever, its genetic transmission, the prevalence and the natural history of the disease,
