Nucleonic conveyor weighing

1973
With the increasing use of conveyors for handling bulk materials such as ores, coal, coke, limestone, fertilizers, cement, sand and gravel, there is a need for methods of continuously monitoring feed rates both for production control and for inventory purposes. A weigh hopper is accurate and easily calibrated but necessitates an interruption in the material flow, and the installation is expensive and bulky as it involves storage bunkers and materials handling equipment.
