On the solution of second‐order post‐buckling fields

Second-order post-buckling fields emanate from the solutions of a constrained minimization problem. Two iterative solution algorithms for this specific type of constrained problem are described. A classical augmented Lagrangian algorithm is compared with a simpler one utilizing the specific feature of the initial post-buckling analysis. Numerical examples of prismatic plate-type structures are presented.
