Persistence, onset, risk factors and outcomes of childhood mental disorders : report based on the analysis of a three-year follow-up survey of the 1999 National Survey of the mental health of children and adolescents in Great Britain commissioned by the Department of Health, the Department for Education and Skills, and the Scottish Executive Health Department
2003
This study is based on two surveys carried out by the National Statistics among children living in private households in Great Britain. The first survey covered children aged 5 to 15 and was carried out in 1999. The second survey followed up a sample of those from the original survey (all those with a disorder and a third of those with no disorder) in 2002. This report presents data on the persistence and onset of each main category of childhood mental disorder and identifies the associated risk factors. It also looked at the use of mental health services and educational profile of children with mental disorders.
