Effect of high pressure on the dielectric properties of relaxor compositions [Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3]1-x-y-[Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3]x- [BaTiO3]y

1997
The effect of high pressure on dielectric properties of ferroelectric materials has always been interesting. In general, ferroelectrics exhibit a decrease in the Curie temperature $(T_c)$ upon application of high pressure [1]. This is attributed to the tendency of the larger unit cell volume in the non-cubic ferroelectric phase to form a lower unit cell volume in the cubic paraelectric phase. Application of pressure favours the formation of cubic phase. In the pressure range 0.1–500 MPa, in which the present work has been done, the change in dielectric constant $(\bullet)$ of $BaTiO_3$ (BT) is not substantial.
