COGNITIVE FUNCTION, ACTIVE LIFESTYLE AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN OLDER ADULTS

2013
In present article we focus on the relationship between cognitive function and some aspects of lifestyle and quality of life in older adults. The research sample consists of 33 older adults without serious health problems who participated in various physical activity programs. To measure their cognitive function, we tested them by Determination test which is one of the subtests of the Vienna test system test battery. Subsequently we asked them to fill a battery of questionnaires which measured various variables related to their lifestyle and quality of life. The obtained data were processed by correlational analysis. We found that the level of cognitive function was significantly related to the age of participants. However, the impact of age on the cognitive function seemed to be limited by participation in leisure physical activity, high physical activity self-efficacy, perceived psychological health and higher social economic status of respondents.
