Photonic crystals

A review of the properties of photonic crystals is presented. Possible applications (ICs and electronic devices (amplifiers and oscillators) of the optical frequency range) are outlined. Special attention is paid to crystals with unconventional quasi-optical properties. Crystals that allow so-called backward waves are considered.
