A Superwideband Waveguide System for Measuring the Attenuation of Electromagnetic Waves by Fragments of Vegetation

2004
A laboratory bench and technique for measuring the attenuation of microwaves by fragments of vegetation is described. It is shown that the created measuring system and proposed technique ensure the obtaining of continuous attenuation spectra in a wide band of frequencies. Some preliminary results from measuring attenuation by aspen branches are given for the frequency band 0.8–8.5 GHz.
