An analysis on karyotype and G-band of recessive white feather broiler

Chromosome karyotype and G-banding karyotype of recessive white feather broiler were analyzed by chromosome preparation obtained from the secondary fibroblast cell lines of chicken embryos and G-banding technique. The results indicated that the total number of chromosomes was 2n=78, and the sex chromosome constitution of the male and female ZZ and ZW, respectively. According to the position of centromere, No.1, No.2, Z and W chromosomes were metacentric; No.2 and No.7 submetacentric; No.4 subtelocentric; No.3, No.5, No.6 and No.9～12 telomentric. The other 26 pairs were all undistinguished dot-shaped chromosomes. In addition, one haploid karyotype for the first 12 pairs of autosomes and sex chromosomes corresponded to 165 (75 positive) G-bands showed by the ideogram.
