Gas Mixtures for Transition Radiation Detectors at High Luminosity Colliders

Abstract The electron drift velocities in xenon with admixtures of CO 2 and CF 4 were measured with the aid of a cylindrical proportional chamber. The spectroscopy characteristics and ageing problems of such chambers are discussed.
