Aumento de la presión del cárter por abrasión de los cilindros y la incidencia en la potencia del motor Wärtsilä Vasa 32

2020
INTRODUCTION. In the Wartsila Vasa 32 engines belonging to an oil services company, an increase in the pressure of the engine crankcase has been evidenced due to the descent of compression from the combustion chamber, caused by abrasive wear on the cylinder liners, which has caused a annual decrease in power. OBJECTIVE. To determine the wear produced in a jacket, the values of the abrasive elements that are dispersed in the fuel and oil, and the dependence of the power depending on the crankcase pressure. METHOD. Carrying out measurements with metrology instruments and analysis of dispersed elements in fuel and oil in international laboratories. RESULTS. Oil and fuel analysis indicated excessive vanadium, increasing abrasive wear on cylinder liners. This wear was checked by measuring the diameter and average roughness of a cylinder liner, after 12,000 hours of operation and whose values were not within the limits recommended by the engine manufacturer. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. There is a decreasing linear correlation between engine power and crankcase pressure. Ecuadorian crude has a high amount of vanadium.++++
