The prevalence and control of endemic fluorosis in Pingdingshan City.

Objective To understand the prevalent status of endemic fluorosis in Pingdingshan City. Methods The strategy of improvement of drinking water quality was carried out for reducing the concentration of fluorine in the drinking water Results The concentration of flulrine in the drinking water was reduced from 9.6mg/L before intervention to1.0mg/L after intervention,the incidence of fuorosis also reduced and fluorosis was got under control in addition to the promotion of the development of husbandry and fowl-raising in addition to the promotion of the development of husbandry and animal and fowl-raising activities Conclusion The measures for reducing the concentration of fluorine and improving the water quality carried out in Pingdingshan City effective,good social and economic benefit has been achieved.
