HOME MEDICAL SUPPORT SYSTEM BY BILATERAL TELECOMMICATION BETWEEN PATIENTS AND DOCTORS

2000
Three basic systems of telemedicine with bilateral communication using multimedia are applied to the medical and health care. They are supported by the technology developed in robotics and virtual reality. The first one is a home emergency rescue system for the patients of respiratory disorder. The second one is the relief system of senile elderly people from their possible outdoor danger using appropriate signals transmitted by telecommunica tion line. The third one is an automatic examination system of urinary components at home, which are stored for medical care. These teleoperational care systems based on the active utilization of multimedia infrastructure will become the facilities for our aging society in the coming new century. Various techniques are requested for the proposed systems, in which essential are hardware manipulating systems of 3D virtual devices and objects with their physical properties in use of telecommunication. From this viewpoint, teleoperational force display system is developed which can provide an operator the well attendance to the realistic operation with a smooth reactive feeling dependent on the physical properties of the object to be operated
