Study on a novel photorefractive polymer containing carbazole and phthalocyanine (I) synthesis and characterization

2009
Abstract Carbazole-based polymer bearing phthalocyanine groups with moderate glass transition temperature ( T g ) for photorefractive purpose was prepared via esterification reaction. The precursor polymer (P1) and the resultant polymer (P2) were identified by means of 1 H NMR, FT-IR, UV–vis, GPC and DSC. This approach was facile, and the analysis demonstrated that phthalocyanine had been successfully introduced into the polymer backbone. The molecular weight of the resultant polymer was 8729 ( M ¯ n ) and 27,809 ( M ¯ w ) , and the polymer was easily soluble in common organic solvents such as CHCl 3 , DMF and THF, etc. T g of the polymers ranged from 97 (P1) to 110 °C (P2) depending on the structure of phthalocyanine (Pc), and the polymers were relatively stable below 350 °C.
