Concepções sobre anatomia humana de alunos do ensino médio da cidade de Cuité-PB: funções e relações com cotidiano

Considering experiences at a university campus on the students’ performance in the human anatomy course, it was possible to note a deficiency of the students’ knowledge, represented by a high level of low grades and failures in the course. The aim of the study was to analyze the conceptions of high school third grade students of the city of Cuite-PB on human anatomy, on its study methods, and on the applicabilities in the daily lives. A questionnaire with objective and open-ended questions was administered, and the data were analyzed by a descriptive-exploratory and a descriptive statistical analysis. Most part of the students defined anatomy as the study of the body and mentioned the intention to study it; 85% said that the study of human anatomy could be useful in daily lives, and among them, 17% mentioned that it could be useful with health problems situations, and 36% haven´t cited any specific applicability. There were many associations between the anatomy study and health professional/students (62%); 29% mentioned that learned human anatomy with fundamental level teachers. Most part of the students evaluated their knowledge as regular, and mentioned to not have problems with the matter. We observed that the human/body anatomy knowledge of the students has deficiencies in the matter. We consider that this study could serve as a reference for others and further researches aiming at analyze this theme
