Joint Electroreduction of Carbonate and Tungstate Ions as the Base for Tungsten Carbide Nanopowders Synthesis in Ionic Melts

2019
Voltammetric studies of tungsten- and carbon-containing melts were carried out to find the conditions for the high-temperature electrochemical synthesis of tungsten carbide coatings and powders. Electrodeposition of tungsten carbide was realized from halide-oxide and oxide melts. Composition and structure of deposits are determined by melt temperature, tungsten and carbon compounds content, and cathode current density.
