2010 ESTCP UXO Classification Study, Camp Butner, NC

2012
Abstract : The objective of this ESTCP-led UXO classification study was to demonstrate a methodology for the use of classification in the munitions response process. The three key components of this methodology were collection of high-quality geophysical data and principled selection of anomalous regions in those data, analysis of the selected anomalies using physics-based models to extract target parameters such as size, shape, and materials properties, and the use of those parameters to construct a prioritized dig list. Each of these components was handled separately in this program with SAIC focusing on the last two objectives. Under subcontract to SAIC, Parsons and NAEVA also analyzed and classified the selected anomalies.
