A method for manufacturing a spherical hob mainly includes selecting a gear sharper cutter, grinding the gear sharper cutter and cutting the gear sharper cutter by an electric discharge wire to machine a blade; discharging a material, roughly turning the material, machining an inner hole of the material, carrying out semi-finish turning, inserting a key slot, turning a chamfer on the key slot, roughly milling and carrying out semi-finish milling for a blade groove, turning a spiral support plate of a hob body, finely milling the blade groove, carrying out thermal treatment and grinding so as to machine the hob body; and mounting a small retainer ring on the hob body at first, then placing the blade in the blade groove, placing a clamping wedge in the blade groove, mounting another small retainer ring on the other side of the hob body, grinding a left stepped surface of the blade and an outer circle of a left plumber block of the hob body on a grinder in a unified manner, grinding a right stepped surface of the blade and an outer circle of a right plumber block of the hob body on the grinder in a unified manner; respectively arranging two large retainer rings on two sides of the hob body by means of hot charging, and grinding the inner hole. The method has the advantages that a complex form-relieve tooth machining process during manufacture of the spherical hob can be omitted, and manufacturing cost of the spherical hob can be lowered.
