Research on main circuit design of a new three-phase disc rotation vacuum interrupter

In order to meet the trend of miniaturization, large capacity and intelligence of the current vacuum circuit breaker, a new model of three-phase disc rotation vacuum circuit breaker has been proposed, in which the main circuit distribution was changed from the same direction to the opposite. Besides, some adjustments were made to the position of operating mechanism. The electric field distribution within the vacuum interrupter was studied based on the finite element method. A comparison of maximum field strength within the vacuum interrupter and electric field intensity distribution at the breakdown position between the new model and the old were analyzed to validate a better performance of the new model. The numerical analysis of thermal field under rated current and rated short circuit current was also studied to verify the feasibility of the new model. Among the final simulation experiment results, the performance of the new model was validated.
