A method of operating a connectable hybrid electric vehicle comprising the steps of: A) determining whether the connectable hybrid electric vehicle receives power from an external power source, B) inhibiting the operation of the connectable hybrid electric vehicle and performing a thermal if the connectable hybrid electric vehicle receives program power from the external power source, wherein the thermal program includes charging a high voltage battery and monitoring the charging state of the high-voltage battery, C) determining whether the connectable hybrid electric vehicle further power from the external power source receives, and D) enabling operation of the connectable hybrid electric vehicle, if this is no longer receiving power from the external power source.
