Substitution of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Using the Torn Meniscus

1988
Currently, the indication for a surgical correction of chronic anterior instabilities of the knee joint is a large subject area because of the extensive number of associated secondary lesions [1, 2, 6, 8]. The unsatisfactory results of extra-articular plasty and the different resiliences of various inserted transplanted tissues have turned attention once again to the ruptured meniscus, which is not suitable for refixation, as a substitute for the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) [3, 10, 12, 13, 15].
