Two-Dimensional Source Location of Acoustic Emission by Means of AI

Source location in Acoustic Emission (AE) analysis is applied to determine where the AE event is generated. Although source location algorithm is generally based on physics or statistics, the result is not accurate in many cases of concrete structures since the matrices are often complicated with cracks and voids. In this study, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technique composed of deep learning with multilayered neural network is thus applied to AE accurate source location. As a result, source location by means of AI technique is possible even under anisotropic velocity conditions.
