A CASE OF MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA IN THE MESENTERY

1999
We experienced a case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) throughout the mesentery. A 65-year-old man was pointed out an abdominal tumor at anotherin hospital and was admitted to the hospital on September 10, 1997. The tumor was about 10×15cm in size and had poor movability with slight tenderness. Ferritin level increased in blood laboratory data. Computed tomogram showed that the tumor was composed of cystic and solid regions with an unclear border on the mesentery. Angiography visualized blocking and encasement at the ileal artery. Therefore he was diagnosed as malignant tumor arising from the mesentery. Tumor extirpation combined with partial resection of the ileum by 35cm in length and urinary bladder was performed on October 3, 1997. Histopathological diagnosis was MFH of ordinary type. He was discharged from the hospital after chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, Adriamycin and DTIC (CDA therapy). There have been no signs of local recurrence and metastasis as of 11 months after the operation. We think that Ferritin is a usefull tumor marker.
