Contribution to the study of piezoelectric beam bending actuator in harmonic mode

The main goal of this paper is to develop with partial differential equation 3D toolbox under Matlab environment a “FEM3DPIE” calculating code to study and analysis the piezoelectric phenomena of beam bending actuator in harmonic mode. First, all the equations of the mathematical formulation of the piezoelectric coupling effect are detailed, then the numerical solution based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) formulation is given. The developed model is used to study the harmonic load applied on the beam bending actuator. The effect of applied voltage and applied frequency on the total displacement of the free-end of the beam bending actuator is highlighted in this study. It seems that the applied voltage is higher; the total displacement is bigger. Finally, the obtained results are compared with those obtained with a commercial software COMSOL-Multiphuysics. Booth results are in excellent accordance which proves the efficiency of the developed model.
