This paper aims to present an analysis of the situation of Latin America Universal Health Coverage in relation to the supply of Primary Care (PC), considering the participation of Family and Community Medicine (FCM). It also proposes indicators to measure Universal Health Coverage relating to the PC and the FCM in a longitudinal perspective watching their progress and results achieved. To this end, a case study was conducted with information obtained from the Presidents of the Associations of Family Medicine members of the Latin American Confederation of Family Medicine - Wonca Iberoamericana CIMF. The indicators proposed in this study may represent an effective contribution to the achievement of universal coverage quality, based on criteria of process and broader than vertical programs, based on specific conditions or diseases, more timely and temporary nature that usually occupy the agendas of health management. Although these vertical programs approach have some validity, they leave in the background structural and strategic aspects that would allow a broader and lasting health actions over time to reach.
