The Research on the Sustained Development of the Transport Industry in China

2008
The development of the each transport is not equilibrium though the general transportation comes to the top in the history. We can draw a conclusion that the general transportation cannot adapt the need of Chinese economic development well based on positive analysis, especially railway, highway and waterway. But the internal division of the comprehensive transport system in China is sound by discussing the average transport distance coefficient. Therefore, developing railway, highway and waterway based on their comparative advantage can perfect the Chinese general transportation. Keywords: comprehensive transport system, internal division, freight traffic, passenger traffic During the 40s and 50s in the 20 th century, developed countries like the United States and Germany proposed the construction of comprehensive transport system, as well as the thread of its development, in order to optimize the internal division of labor, order the development and make effective utilization for railroads, highways, waterways, civil aviation and pipelines transport (1) . The studies on the comprehensive transport system in our country have started since 1960s, following with a trend of rapid growth after the reform and opening up policy. Now a relatively complete sense of comprehensive transport system has already basically formed. However, a rising growth did not have a certain synchronous development with economy. Some transports grow relatively in advance, some stagnant. "The economy should develop, the transportation must advance." (2) In a new historical period, with the "11 th Five-Year" plan, it is of great importance to systematically analyze the internal division, and thus stand on a higher stage to give an operable direction in improving the comprehensive transport system.
