Mouse Models of down Syndrome

2005
Down syndrome is a complex, multigenic disorder and is the most common genetic cause of cognitive and behavioral disabilities in human beings. Although improvements in life span, quality of life and function have been achieved by improved health care and cognitive stimulation, the underlying relationship between triplicated genes and phenotype is poorly understood. This article compares the current mouse models available for basic research and preclinical testing of potential drug and genetic therapies.
