HEAVY VEHICLES - SOME EUROPEAN OBSERVATIONS

The purpose of this paper is to provide some facts regarding weight, dimensions, and influence of heavy vehicles on pavements in Europe, particularly in the EEC countries. A brief discussion is provided of studies related to axle loads, road wear, and pavement maintenance. A few shortcomings and problem areas are also reviewed.
