Non-a, non-b, non-c, non-d and non-e hepatitis reagent and their use

1995
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polynucleotide which has a specific base sequence, selectively hybridizing with the genome of hepatitis GB virus(HGBV)-C or its complementary sequence and useful in diagnosis and therapy for GB type hepatitis originating from HGBV. SOLUTION: A new purified polynucleotide or its fragment which has a base sequence represented by the formula and can selectively hybridize the genome of hepatitis GB virus(HGBV)-C or its complementary sequence. It is useful in diagnosis and treatment for GB type hepatitis and collection of an antibody specifically binding to HGBV. This polynucleotide or its fragment is prepared by extracting the viral genome of HGBV, preparing the library of nucleotide sequences of HGBV by using the genome in a usual manner and utilizing them as a probe or the PCR primer for screening.
