Progress on Photoacoustic Structural and Functional Imaging

Photoacoustic imaging technology utilized that the short pulse laser excited photoacoustic signal,and the distribution image of optical absorption of tissue was reconstructed.It takes advantage of high optical contrast and high acoustical resolution.Photoacoustic imaging technology can visualize the structures of biology tissue,and accurately realize noninvasive function imaging,it provides a new method for studying morphology,physiological and pathological features and metabolic function of biology tissue.In this paper,the principle of photoacoustic signal generation was analyzed;some typical imaging systems and progress of the newest application were reported.Photoacoustic imaging as a new biomedical imaging method could potentially initiate an innovation in the biomedical imaging field.
