A study of internal bremsstrahlung from the electron capture decay of 54Mn

Abstract The IB spectrum from the electron capture decay of 54 Mn was studied by coincidences between the IB quanta and the 835 keV γ-rays. The (1.92±0.33) × 10 −4 /K-capture experimental value found for the total intensity of IB agrees well with that of the Glauber-Martin theory. The end-point energy of the spectrum was found to be 633±100 KeV from the Jauch plot. Using this value, the total disintegration energy of the 54 Mn → 54 Cr decay was calculated to be 1474±100 keV.
