Author response: Variability in reported physician practices for brain death determination

We appreciate the comment by Dr. Sethi and fully agree that a diagnosis of brain death is—and should continue to be—a clinical diagnosis, with the use of ancillary testing only in situations where the clinical examination cannot be fully completed.
