Clinical analysis of interventional embolization for internal carotid artery-posterior communicating segment aneurysms

2018
Objective To analyze the recurrence of internal carotid artery-posterior communicating segment aneurysms treated by interventional embolization and its relationship with morphology. Methods Fifty-seven patients with aneurysms originating from posterior communicating artery treated by interventional embolization from September 2013 to June 2017 in Department of Neurosurgery, The First Hospital of Jilin University, were chosen in our study. These patients were divided into type a, b and c according to DSA, and received simple embolization and stent assisted embolization. The embolization efficacy was evaluated according to Raymand classification, and the effect was reviewed after 6 months to 1 year. Results There were 9 cases of type a, 33 cases of type b, 15 cases of type c. Of the 57 patients who followed up, 11 patients recurred, and the overall recurrence rate was 19.3%. Of the type b aneurysms, 7 patients recurred and the recurrence rate was 21.2%; and of type c, 4 patients recurred, and the recurrence rate was 26.7%. Conclusion Recurrence of internal carotid artery-posterior communicating artery after embolization focused on type b and type c aneurysms. Key words: Internal carotid artery-posterior communicating segment aneurysms; Postoperative recurrence of aneurysm; Embolization treatment
