N-Type Field-Effect Transistor Based on Fluorine-Substituted Hexabenzocoronene

2007
Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) using organic semiconductors as an active layer are of great interest for their use in lightweight, low-cost, large-area, and flexible electronics products. Hexafluoro HBC derivative, 6F-HBC, has been synthesized. 6F-HBC had extremely high field-effect mobility and on/off ratio as an n-type semiconductor. Molecular ordering in the films was measured by x-ray diffraction (XRD). XRD analysis indicated that hexafluoro HBC molecules were aligned in parallel each other. The film of hexafluoro HBC probably forms 2D conducting pathways.
