THE ESR AND FLUOROMETRIC STUDIES ON INTERACTION OF NINE METAL IONS WITH HUMAN ERYTHROCYTE MEMBRANES

1996
Objective:The present study deals with the interaction of metal ions with cell membrane and its relation to properties of metal ions. MethOds:By maleimide spin labeling ESR and N-[3-P]-M or fluorescamine labeled fluorometric method ,the interaction of metal ions Cd ̄(2+),Ni ̄(2+),Cu ̄(2+),Pb ̄(2+),Zn ̄(2+),Co ̄(2+),Mn ̄(2+),Ca ̄(2+),Ce ̄(3+) with human erythrocyte membranes was studied. Results:The experiments in-dicated that the interaction between these metal ions and membranes was relative to hardness-softness of Lewis acid of the metal ions significantly. But Pb ̄(2+) behaves like Ca ̄(2+) on membranes as shown by spectroscopy,Ce ̄(3+) behaves the same as Ca ̄(2+); Mn ̄(2+) induced considerable decrease of W/S value of la-beled membranes, somewhat like Cu ̄(2+).Conclusion:The interaction of metal ions with human erythro-cyte membranes is ralative to the chemical properties of metal ions.
