Health Promotion on the Basis of Health Status Monitoring

Data concerning the changes in health status have been followed up in the city of Pecs since 1975 first in a continuously updated health register based at the Central Screening Unit then since 1983 in a computerised database. In 1985 we began to widen the range of data by recording the main habits and environmental harms of the population. Our aim is to detect the risk factors of diseases endangering life and playing an important role in the mortality data. Since 1988 our activities have been evaluated as well.
