Plant Design, Optimisation and Availability: A Case Study of Two Kilns

1994
The methodologies used during the design of two specialised rotary kilns, built sequentially, are compared. The emphasis during the design of the first kiln was on the process requirements and specialised equipment to meet those requirements. For the second kiln the emphasis shifted to optimising the performance and the reliability of the system using such techniques as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and a Reliability, Maintainability and Availability study.
