Advantages of Laser Application in Gynecological Endoscopy

1992
There are many advantages to invasive endoscopic treatment compared with conventional surgery. In treating diseases, retaining organs, there is minimal trauma for the patient. Hospitalization of patients is dramatically reduced, the average hospital stay being less than 24 h. The spectrum of indications is continually broadening. Some examples are cholecystectomy, hysterectomy, or laparoscopically guided hysterectomy, as well the preparation of retroperitoneal lymph nodes. These procedures are established methods and proof of what DeCherney foresaw in 1985: that laparoscopic surgery would replace reconstructive pelvic surgery [9].
