Resonances in inelastic scattering of protons by /sup 58/Ni near 6 MeV

A theoretical analysis is made of the experimentally measured angular and energy dependences of the spin-flip probability and the differential cross sections for inelastic scattering of protons by /sup 58/Ni (2/sup +//sub 1/) in the energy range 5.65--6.13 MeV with inclusion of resonance and statistical processes. The contribution of the statistical mechanism was calculated according to the Hauser-Feshbach theory, and the resonance mechanism--according to the Breit-Wigner formula. Parameters are presented for the resonance states in /sup 59/Cu, and a satisfactory description of the experimental data is obtained with these parameters.
