Relationship between the anxiety-depression symptoms and the level of serium cortisone in patients with burn

Objective To explore the the relationship between the anxiety-depression symptoms and the level of serium cortisone in patients with burn.Methods Totally 33 patients with burn (the study group) were evaluated with Hamilton depression scale(HAMD),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA) before treatment,after 1 week and after 4 weeks of treatment,at the same time,tested the level of serium cortisone,with 30 normal controls.Results During acute period,patients with bum had higher scores of HAMD and HAMA (P<0.01) and decreased to normal level after recovery.Compared with the control group,the serium cortisone of bum patients significantly increased during acute period (P<0.01) and recovered with bum improvement.There showed significant positive correlatin between the changes of serium cortisone and the changes of the total scores of HAMD and HAMA in the study group during acute period.Condusions During acute period,burn patients have some extent anxiety-depression symptoms with higher level of serium cortisone.This need drug-treatment and psychological interventions respectively.
