A Novel Conical/Pencil Pattern Reconfigurable Antenna for Fuze Applications

2018
A novel pattern reconfigurable antenna is proposed in this paper. The design consists of a microwave cylindrical conformal array and a dielectric rod antenna at 10 GHz, both of which are switched by a PIN diode SPDT switch. By changing the pattern between conical and pencil beam, this antenna can be used to detect the lateral and ahead target alternately in fuze applications. The array is composed of twelve long-slot leaky wave antenna (LSLWA) elements. The gain ripple with the number of elements is investigated. The waveguide 1t-junction with an inductive post is utilized as the element of a multiple-way power divider in the microwave cylindrical conformal array. In addition, a dielectric rod antenna is presented to obtain the pencil beam.
