Abstract Semen from eight (four cattle and four buffalo) bulls was collected and analysed for physical characteristics and transaminase activity. The values of glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GPT) activity were 1567±63 and 368±25 SF units 1 in the whole semen and 807±31 and 121±11 SF units in the seminal plasma for cattle and 1359±48 and 279±29 in the whole semen and 635±28 and 94±11 in the seminal plasma for buffalo.
