Study on HIV/AIDS prevention and control models among MSM with multi-sectoral participation in China

Objective To systematically investigate models of HIV/AIDS prevention and control among MSM in the past decade with special emphasis on multi-sectoral participation and provide scientific evidence for future control and prevention of HIV/AIDS among this population group. Methods Information was collected by searching for literature and internet web.Seven cities were selected as study fields and interview in-depth and collection of existing data were conducted in each study field.ATLAS.ti5.0 software and focus group discussion were used in information analysis. Result Seven principal investigators and 35 co-investigators of the intervention projects and 42 MSM volunteers involued in the intervention activities were interviewed.The results showed that CDC-led,MSM volunteer organization-led and research institution -led HIV prevention and control models were implemented in health practice and each model had its advantages and disadvantages. Conclusion It is important to develop appropriate model of HIV/AIDS prevention and control with broad multi-sectoral participant based on existing resources and needs.
