Use of chemostat for selection ofStreptomyceshygroscopicus mutants altered in regulation of maltose utilization

Streptomyceshygroscopicus mutants showing altered fermentation kinetics were isolated using a selection procedure in a chemostat. Several mutants were obtained which differed in their capacity to produce the macrolide antibiotic turimycin.
