Synthesis of Manganese Oxide Octahedral Molecular Sieves (OMS)
1994
Abstract A series of manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieves (OMS) with different tunnel sizes, ranging from 2.3 to 6.9 A, have been synthesized. The materials were prepared by redox reactions between Mn 2+ and MnO 4 or other oxidants under different conditions. Two synthetic mechanisms are proposed based on the intermediates. The first mechanism involves amorphous materials and the second one involves layered materials as the intermediates. Like the synthesis of zeolites, template, temperature, and pH are important parameters that control the tunnel structures of OMS.
