Study on TCD and Neuropsychological Functions in Patients with Type II Diabetes
2000
To study the impairment of hemodynamics and neuropsychological functions in patients with type Ⅱ diabetes (NIDDM). Methods: Thirty patients of NIDDM and 50 healthy control subjects were tested with Clinical Memory Scale, WAIS-RC, and measured with TCD of DWL type. Results: Five subtest scores and the MQ of NIDDM group were lower than that of the control group. The VIQ, PIQ and FIQ were significantly lower than that of the controls ( P 0.01). TCD shown that 10 arteries of 7 cases were stenosis, the Vm of 7 arteries of other 23 cases were lower than control group. The PI of all were higher than the control group ( P 0.01). Peak time of frequency spectrum of 21 cases was prolonged, with S1 peak higher than S2. Conclusion: Patients with NIDDM had poor memory and impairment of intelligence, shown poor ability in learning new materials and impaired hemodynamics. 23.33% of them had artery stenosis, and other patients had arteriosclerosis.
