Factors affecting formation of zeolite a from alumino-silicate gels

Abstract Optimal SiO 2 Al 2 O 3 , Na 2 O SiO 2 and H 2 O Na 2 O ratios have been defined for zeolite A synthesis starting from a Na silica-aluminate gel. The influence of reaction temperature, alkalinity and chemical composition of gel on the formation of zeolite A was investigated. The reaction temperature influences both the nucleation (reaction time) and the crystallinity (crystal growth) but the pH of the solution is the main parameter governing the kinetics of zeolite A formation.
